[PBB PRESS ASSOCIATION. J AUOKLAHD, August 30. The programmes of Ihe Auokland Racing Olub's spring and summer meetings 2 have been published. The total amount e_ proposed to be given away m stakes at t the two meetings is £4190, a decrease of £860 as against last year. A sum of £980 ' haa been apportioned to the spring meet- ; c ing, and £3200 to the summer gathering, y* A speoial meeting of the Auokland ;- Amateur Athletic and Bicyoliag Ohio waa q held laat night at the Imperial Hotel, when it was announced that almost the whole of the funds of the Club had been misappropriated by the Treasurer, who has suddenly left the colony. An audit of the year's accounts took plaoe recently, • c when a sum of £177 waß shown to the d credit of the Olub, out when the Auditors I, applied to the Savings Bank after the dee parture of the Treasurer, a certain certifioate not having been obtained, the discovery was made tbat the latter had diverted almost all the funds of the Club to his own use. After considerable dian cussion, it was resolved that the considers, ation of the question of criminally prose)f outing the Treasurer be deferred till tbe Si annual meeting next week, the Committee ' meanwhile to take legal advice as to the powers of the Olub to proseoute. Wbllinoxon, Auguat 30. An attempt was made at high tide last night to float the barque Kate Tatham, Btranded near the Wairan bar, but owing I to an accident to tbe pulsometer pump the * m operations had to be abandoned. The bulk heads were opened to allow the . water to flow into the fore and aft comr partmentß, so as to steady the vessel, and '* when the repairs to the pump are effected, c another attempt will be made. It is believed the vessel will be floated. Dunedin, August 3C. At the Harbor Board meeting it was stated that only £903 of the loan remained for the construction of tho mole at the '- Heads, which would take Atom £4000 to r £5000 to finish.
