The "Lyttelton Times" says :— Aa showing the gradu&l rise of wheat, a card eenc out by a leading firm of millers announces a rite of 10a per top, all round, that is, flour In sacks of 2001 bis now 10s per ton dearer (on August 27) than it was the day before. Reports are current of a very hardening m the wheat market, and it is considered probable that many of the ships now at Newcastle awaiting ooal will oome on to this and other grain-loading ports, m ballast, rather than remain idle during the oolllers' strike, whioh has every appearance of being a prolonged one. Should snob, happen, it will strengthen the local wbaat market, ' and enable holders to ship a little more freely. A shipment of Adelaide wheat, It will be noted by our cable news m this Issue, has been sold at forty shillings. The " Press " says :— Large speculative purchases, of wheat have been made m Christohuroh daring the last few days at 3sf.o.b.
