THE FISHERIES TREATY

(Per Press Association.; Washington, August 22. The Senate has rejected the Fisheries Treaty with Canada by a majority ot three. The discussion took place on party lines ; twenty-seven Democrats voted m favor ot the treaty, and thirty of the Republican party against it. Washington, August 23. The rejection of the Fisheries Treaty causes little excitement m the United States and Canada, as it is believed the modus vivendi will be continued. It is thought improbable that any collision will ensue between Canada and the States on the Fisheries difficulty, so long as the Democrats remain m power.
