QUEENSLAND LOANS.
Brisbane, August 17. The Governors of the Bank of England have made representations to the Queensland Agent-General in London to the effect that it is desirable the colony should discontinue placing loans on the London market at such short intervals, and that if this suggestion is not complied with the bank would find it necessary to rid itself of the responsibility of undertaking the loans. The debt of Queensland is now higher per haad than that of any of the colonies. London, August 15. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,920,000 quarters, and for the Continent 364,000 quarters; The American visible supply of wheat, is 25,250,000 bushels.
