A FEMALE CATTLE RAIDER.
» (Pbr Pkess Association.) Invrroargill, Augnst 14. The Supremo Coart has been occupied all day with the trUl of Sophia Kidd, on a charge of cattle stealing. It was alleged that Bhe stole and drove a small mob during the night to a Bale at Mat aura. Evidence of identification was strong especially that of the bank cUrk who cashed the cheque given for the ca tie. Oa the other hand the woman's relations and the servants of her family swore positively that on the day Bhe was said to have been at Mataura Baling the cattle she was on her mother 1 ! firm- driving a reaper. A sensation was caused m Court towsrds the close of the tml by the fainting of the accused, which stopped the prooeedlngs for half an boar. The jury were unable to agree and were looked op for the night.
