— "» The ordinary meeting of the Aihbutton School Committee was held last evening. Present : Mesars Sawle (ohalrman), Cook, Dunoan, Elston, Q. Scott< TREES, The matter of topping the trees In the Bohool grounds was left In the hands of the Chairman, It being balleved that some person could be got to do the work, m consideration of obtaining the timber for fuel. Letters were read— (l) From Board of Education Btating that In aooordanoa with the wish of the Commutes it would leave the staff as at present till after the examination, and would then t&ke the neceasary Bteps to obtain the services of a second master.— (2) From the Board In regard to a vaoancy on the Board The Committee recorded Its vote In favor of Mr Wyun-Willlams — (3) From the Board much regretting thai owlDg to the BuildIng Fand baing completely exhausted It could not entertain any application for a side pohool at Allen ton.— (4) From the Board of Eduoitlon In regard to allowing the use of schoolrooms for amusements. Toe Committee decided to reply that the eohool was never let for any amusements. inspector's bepokt. Dr Anderson's report on as inspection of the sobool WB3 read and received. It related ettlfely to the work and dla. trlbutlon of the teaching staff master's report Tho'magter'a report was read. The number on roll was : B ya, 205 ; girls, 193 ; total, 398. Highest attendance ; Boya, 17fi ; glele, 147 ; total, 323. Avernga I attendance : Boy?, 143 616 ; girls, 123 95. Total, 267 56. Sufficient contributions had been got to provide prizea, and the Chairman waa asked to dlatrlbute them on Thursday. It would noon be neceaaary for tbe Bond to call for applications for a second maater aa he ought to be able i to commence du;y about October Ist. Several email repairs were aUuded to aa being' needful. The report was adopted. PAYMENTS Accounts were passed for payment, and the Committee adjourned.
