MOUNT SOMERS ROAD BOARD.
; ♦■ ■ . The monthly meeting of the above Board was held m the office on Monday, August 6th. Present— Messrs A. Macfarlane m the chair, Chapman and Edson. BEPOBTB AND OOKBESPO.VDSNCE. The Overseer's report was read and considered. It was resolved to have the drains on Gorge road, near Harveys, cleaned oat, It was resolved to have the groin on Boyd's road repaired. It was resolved to have a small drain made on the upper side of the Bucoluch road. The Overseer wan instructed to have the ruts filled m on the Alford Forest main road, near the Spread Eagle ; also, to have the old coach road below the Alferd Station made passable. 1 he Overseer reported several ratepayers as haying gorae growing on the roads adjoining their property, * Resolved— '« That the Overseer give them notice to have it cleared by the end of August, or the work would be done by the Board, and any expense incurred thereby would be recovered by the usual process. The Overseer reported having bought 16 bushels of poisoned wheat. — Ap« proved of. Correspondence was read from Mr T. 13. Moßae, asking permission to put up a gate on Boyd's road Granted. From Mr T. E. Fagan, asking permission to cut timber on one of the Board's bush roads, near section 31134. — Granted Bubjeot to the usual conditions. From Mr Herring, offering to contribute £1 towards work on the Sawmill road,— Agreed to. From Mr Walker, M.H.R., stating that the Minister for Lands could not include m tha Government Sales of Reserves Bill a clause giving the Mount Somers Road Board power to sell the Road Board cottage, consequently a short Bill had been introduced for that purposj. From the Auditor-General, certifying to the accounts. DEPUTATIONS, Messrs Hutchison and Ross intervfewed the Board with respect to the extra water turned on to their land by the construction of a storm water channel on the Sawmill road. After a long discussion it was resolved that the Overseer report on the matter at next meeting of the Board. Mr W. McOlimont interviewed the Board with respect to the storm water on the Racecourse Reserve, and asked that something be done to turn the water into the river before it reaphed the Mount Somers hotel. The Chairman stated that the Board would do what they cou'd m the matter. After souce discussion . it was resolved to call tenders for a drain to be made on the Bridge road from the Gorge road to the river, tenders to be m by next meeting of the Board. Mr Fergus, the poHndkeeper, attended with the pound books. There being no application for the office of poundkeeper, Mr Fergus agreed to keep on the pound under the old agreement, and the Overseer was instructed to report on the pound fines; BATS In accordance with a previous motion, Mr Chapman proposed " That a rate of jd m the £ be struck on all rateable property m the district " Seoonoed by Mr Edoon and carried. ACCOUNTS. The pay-sheet amounting to £48 14a 3d was passed for payment and the Board adjourned, ;
