ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
Mr D. Thomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Co.) reports upon the live stock market for the Ashburton Distriot for the week ending August 7th, as follows : — On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I held my weekly sale of sheep, pige, and cattle. The total entry was a small one, owing to the wet weather of Saturday and Monday, and the few fat B&eep (baft came forward realised good prices. 10 stone two pera ef orosßtoed eves m lamb and one pen ol boggeta ootngleted the entry. In pigs a very small enquiry, and the bulk were passed m unsold. In cattle a medium entry, but no improvement m prices can be quoted. I sold fat merino wethers at 103 ; crossbred ewes, 8s Cd to 10s ; m Btore crossbred ewes, 10s Gil to Us 6d ; orossbred hoggets, 10s. Sow m pig, £2. In fat cattle 1 quote beef at 15s 6d to 163 per lOOlbs. On Friday we held our fortnightly skin Bale, when I sold the total entry at the following prices :— Merino Bkins, Is 6d to 3s Id; crossbred, 2s 63, 3s, 3a 3d, 4a, 43 6d, 4s 9a, \ to 5s 8d ; mixed skins, 3s 6d to 33 Bd. i
