Fairly good entries of fat and Btore cattle, with but moderate entries of tbeep, formed the day's market on Wednesday. The weather wrs fine, the attendance of buyers and others about an average one. Fat Cattle — A fairly numerous entry, the quality being very varied from very prime to indifferent The demand was about on a par with last market, and also vilues, tbe latter, if anything, a shade better. Prime quality steers sold at from £6 to £8 per head, ditto heifers from £5 17a 6d to £6 12s 6d ; cows and light weight heifers at from £2 Ids to £4 12s 6d, being at from 153 to 19s per 1001 b aocording to quality. Stobe Cattle —A pretty numerous ent-y made up principally of odd lots The demand was not over brisk, and for the only two lines of ethers that were offering owners' reserves were not reached, and they were passed m. Store cows and young cattle, however, sold fully up to late rate?.
A fair entry of dairy cows met rather a. good enquiry, late quotations being well maintained,
Fat Sheep —Another moderate supply of fat shoop, quality varied, principally medium to very prime. 'J he dernnn,i was good from both local and export buyers, last week's prices about ruling — m some oases a 'little, exceeded, and ia others hardly uphold ; taken a'togather a slightly easier tone prevailed, Prime croesbreda sold at from 14s 65 to I8<; very heavy weights to 203 ; medium weights, 12s 3d to J3s 9,d ; crossbred ewes, at from 9s 9d to 14s 3d ; merino wethers, from 10s 3d to 14* 3d, being at from 2jl to about 3d per lb, accordiog to quality. Stobe Sheep.— Not a largo entry. A good euquiry shown, all lines Belling at fully late rates; Crossbred ewes m lamb sold at from 9s 6-i to 11b ; a line of mixed crossbreds 10: «<d. Mesßrs Bennetts Bros., selling for Messrs Hawkens Bros , 120 crossbred ewes m lamb tit 11 g, and a line of very prime lftmbs at 9a. Messrs Miles find Co.' so.d 15€| two and four-tooth crossbred sat 10& 3d ; 40 orosabred ewes m lamb at 10a.
Pigs — A large ent*y and a good demand ; late values well maintained. Baconers sold at from 34s to 68 3, porkom 21s to 32a, and stores from 8s 6Ho 18s.
