TINWALD TOWN BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held at the Board's office Tinwald on Friday, August 3rd. Present— Messrs Clark, (m the chair), Scott, Williams, Shearer and Jephson. The Ohairrran reported that the following tenders had been aocepted for works as authorised at the last meeting: —Formation— Agnes street, O. O'Connor •t 4s per chain. Shingling— Agnes street, C. O'Connor at Is 41 per .yard ; do Wilkln street, O. O'Connor at 101 per yard ; do footpath Carter's terrace, 0. O'Connor at Od per yard ; clearing side channels Carter's terrace, 0 O'Connor at« lid per obaln ; outtlng drain along miln ( drain, F. Lowe 5i 6d per chain ; removing culvert In Laghmor road, and placing lime across Grove itreet, at Its junction with John b ton street, J. Robinson at £4 15s. The Board approved of the aotlon of the Chairman*
Correspondence wai read— (l) From Upper Ashburton Road Board re ford near Road Board office. The clerk was Instructed to have the f ord formed to proper grade. (2.) From Ashburton County Council, forwarding oopy of letter from the Stock and Saleyards Company calling the attention of the Board to the dangerous state of the gravel pit near the Baleyard», and asking the Board te fenoe the same. It was resolved to reply that this Board refuses to take control of the Gravel R<?g3rve, and is of opinion that •• the County Conncil, Upper Ashburton R-osd Bo»id and Longbeach Road Board! have taken gravel from the pit for years, it ia only fair that those bodies should contribute their share of the cost of fencing m ths reserve.
A petition was rand from a number of ratepayers praying that a drain sfaoald be made from Grove street to Dohorty's farm. It was resolved to call for tenders for doing the work at once.
Tbe clerk was instructed to sand notice to Mr Benjamin Ede to dear gorse m Ford's road.
It «r«s resolved to form Grove street from Graham's road to Carter's ttnace, and shingle same from Johnston street to Carter's terrace, tenders to be m by next meeting. After passing accounts and transacting routine business the meeting adjourned.
