ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Mr D. Thomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Oo.) reports upon the live stock market for the ABhburton District for the week ending July 25th, as follows :—
On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards we held our usual weekly Bale of sheep, oattle, and pigs. There was a medium entry of sheep, but a very limited one of oattle. The attendance was moderate, those, however, who did oome were buyers, and the whole of the sheep were quitted at very satisfactory prices, In the fat pens crossbred wethers sold at 15s 6d to 10s lid ; crossbred ewes, 9s 6d. In store orosßbred two-tooth, 8s 2d ; merino ewes m lamb, m good condition, 5s to 5s lOd; ditto, m poor condition, 3s to 3a 2d ; oalls, Is Id. There were several pens of good forward conditioned two-tooth wethers which realised 14s to 14a 2d. In oattle a very poor entry, and bidding very slaok. Yesterday I held my fortnightly sale of skins, fat, and hides, which I disposed of at good prioes; orossbred, 39 6d to 4s 6d; merino, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; hides, 3d per lb ; iat, ljd per lb.
