The Attorney-General moved as '' an amendment that, m the opiaion of this Council, it is desirable with a view of limiting the number of raoa meetings, a ohargo should be made for the uea of / the totalisator, as follows:— For the first day £100, and for subsequent days of the same meeting £200. SUBSIDIES TO LOCAL BODISB. Mr Baraicoat resumed the debate upon the preeiouß question "oa the question that m the opinion of this Oounoil it is • not advisable, m view of the financial condition and obligations of this colony, that any portiou of the public revenue derived from Customs duties should be appropriated or Bet apart permanently or for a definite period to provide subsidies for local bodies." The original motion was cirried by 12 to 11. The Council rose at 5 p.m.
