CORN EXCHANGE.
The following ia the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, July 13th, 1888:— The exceptionally fine, weather of the past month has allowed farmers to complete the winter sowing to great advantage. Attention is now being turned to spring requirements. Orders are poming forward for both' seed tusoan and ryegrass. Deliveries by rail are now almost a thing of the past, exoept from ex store at country stations, all of whioh are keenly competed for at our quotations. Freight to London is still soarce as prioeß are ruling high. Wheat.— Tuscan prime has a' strong enquiry for shipment and readily commands 2s 9d ; pearl has a better enquiry locally for milling at 2s 8d to 2s 9d; hunters, whioh is m plentiful supply, ranges from 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; ohioken wheat is m a little better demand, whole is worth 2s 3d to 2s 4d, and broken Is 9dto2s. Oats. — A firmer tone is noticeable, but we cannot alter our last week's quotations. Milling, la lOd to Is lid ; short feed, Is 9d to Is lOd ; ordinary long descriptions, Is 8d to Is 9d. Barley.— The only enquiry is for extra prime malting at 4s to 4s 3d ; and small lines fit for seed at priooß ranging from 3s to 4s 3d ; feed is very quiet at Is 9d to 2a. Beans and Peas.— No alterations to note m values and demand. Grass Heed.— .A F>few enquiries are being made for small lot for spring sowing. The stocks, however, are heavy and we do not anticipate any deoided rise m values. Maohine dressed is quoted at 2s 6d to 3s, and farmers lines at 2s to 2s 4d ; oooksf oot remains unobanged at 3d to 3jd for clean heavy seed, and 2£d to 3d for second quality, Potatoes.— Sales have been made at 32a 6d at country stations for delivery during the present month. Kidneys are worth 50a to 555. Dair? Produce.— Butter is still m fair demand at Od to 9£d, and oheese has improved, sales being made at 3^d to 3jd for small size, and 3d to 3£d for large sizes. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. sacks extra. |
