AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN V N. OF ENGLAND.
(Pbr Pebss Association.) London, July 1. In consequence ot rain the cricket match between the North of England and the Australian Eleven was not resumed on the 29th ult. On the following day the weather cleared, but the wicket was sticky. The visitors first innings closed for 81 runs. The North of England, who had made 93 m their first innings then went m, but were unable to make a stand against Turner's bowling, and the last wicket fell with , the total at 96. The Australians m their second innings required no runs to win, and knocked up the necessary number with the loss of 5 wickets. McDonnell played a brilliant innings, and made 82 out of 86 m 50 minutes. There was great excitement towards the end of the match, as it was doubtful if time would permit the game to be I finished. The Australians had only jo minutes to spare when the winning total was registered.
