THE WRECK OF THE SUVA.
(per press association.) Wellington, July 10. The Suva passengers and crew wera safely landed this afternoon. The engine-room is fall of water A supply of buckets haa been sent aorosß the river to bale her oat. The passengers wore battened down, and had a very unpleasant time. Captain Todd states that the vessel touched ground oft the aid of the break* water. He then lost oontrol of the chip, and she drifted an ay to the southward m the surf, bumblng continually until she took the ground permanently. The engines were kept going la the endeavor to make headway seaward until the fires were pot out by seas breaking over the vessel. The officers' rooms on deck were Bwept clean away with all their belongings The passengers and most of the crew were battened down In the saloon. The engine room U balf full of water, but this is supposed to haye come over the side of the vessel, and gone down through the bunkerß and ventilators, not that the ship is making water Nothing will be done towards getting the vessel off until the weather moderates, but she rests safely on a sandy bottom,
