« — : > At the Addlngton saleyards on Wednesday the weather was splendid, and there was a large attendance of buyers. Fat Cattle —Fairly large entry $ a few really good Bteere, but the balk of the market was made up of medium and light weights. Heifers were not numerous, and all round the market was sluggish.. The top price was £8 for good steers, and beef would run from 16s to 18a per 1091ba. Of store oattle there 'was scarcely any on offer at auction, although a f3W yearling! were sold privately at ;§l l4s. The latter, however, were rather more than yearlings, perhaps 18 months. A few old cows were Bold at what they would fetch, and m these oases prices were irregular, and were no criterion. Of dairy stock there was a fair eptry, and the demand although slow was bettor than last week. For good oowa In fall profit, second or third oalf, as good as £3 was obtained but medium and inferior animals sold much below this figure. Only a few vealers were pat In, and according to age and quality brought from Ba6d toolsCd. Shbbp. — Between 7000 and 8000 sheep were m the market. The demand both by freezers and bntohors was fairly good. Prime mutton was worth up to 2£ pec Ib, A prime pen of wethers showing a large atrain of Hampshire Down blood, fetqhfcj as high as 17a 6 1, crossbred trethers for freezing from 13s to \Qs 6d, and bntohers' medium weights ran from 10s 64 to 14 1 33, Ewes brought to lSjs aud 13a, and *• line of fine merino wethers fetched 14i. There waa a large entry of utore sheep, and for forward wethers 9a 5d waa obtained m one case. Crossbred la dabs fetohed 6i, orosßbred ewea In lamb up to 6i, and shorn lambs sa, mixed 2 and 4-tooths 7a 83. Pias —There was a fair entry of pigs, but the demand was not np to last weet, and a drop m prices was manifest. Baooa plga were worth aboot sj] to 3^ per }b f
