Wednesday, June 27. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. THE TOTAXISATOE. Mr Hart moved that it Is the duty of the State to substantially tax profits derived from the use of the totallsator. The Attornoy-G moral pointed oat that the matter should be well considered before arriving at a decision. It wonld | be a very bad precedent for the Logielitirt ti raise revenue from gambling. After debate the motion was lost on a division by 16 to 17. An amendment by Mr Miller that a Se!eat Committee to enquire into the working of the totallsator be appointed, was carried on a division by 12 to 10. The Oounoll rose at 5 p.m.
