THE TARIFF.
(PHB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Jane 13 The Industrial Association have agreed to a resolution affirming that the tariff proponalß <f the Government are beneficial to the public at large, aa they will assuredly develop new industries, aestat tboie already existing, and give much needed employment to a large number of men, women, and children. The Asboclitlon are q'bo of opinion that unless local industries ore protected, the. great depression that now exists will continue, and they have accorded a vote of thanks to thore members who have supported the proteotlve tariff now before the House Ddnbdin, June 13. A firm of leather manfaoturera are forwarding a memorisl to the Premier, stating that they have been to great expense In establishing an Industry, and are now prepared to turn out plan and colored leather for bookbinding and boot and shoe manufacturers, -and also parohraent, but all their goods are admitted free, with the exception of roan, while manufacturers who consume them hare a protection of 20 to 25 per cent.
