WRECK OF THE HAWEA.
(per press association.) New Plymouth, June 14. The Hawea remains m the same poaltion. Captain fieudall, who arrived from Wellington m the Waoaka yesterday afternoon, is now making the neoesiary examination of the Vosse 1 , The general opin'on is that the vessel cm be easily floated again. Tha Harbormaster and Resident Engineer eoout the idea of rocks being at the spot where the Hawea is aiid to have struck, Captain Solf- rd cays he has repeatedly sounded where the veijal ia said to hive struck a rook and could not find any bjulders or rocks of any kind. He Bays also that he ifl not sure the H^wea did not strike her anchor. The Hawea was drawing 12 feet, and the chart ehowa sixteen to seventeen foat of water at the spot ahe struck. The Hawea m coining into the wharf has fr qnently made a similar detour without mishap.
