PASSENGERS SAFELr LiNDED. [PBR PRBBB ASSOCIATION ] New Plvmooth, Jane 12. It Is .reported that the fiawea, from Mannkaa, went on the rooks when coming into the harbor this morning. No partlculars are to hand. The Hawea, from Manukau, In coming to anchor about 7.30 broke her oible and went on the rooka. She strnok on the ■tern and Immediately filled with water. Her deoks are now covered. There was no time to get ont the oargo. There were two race horses on board one of whioh, Armourer, was got safely oat, bat Allegro attempted to swim to sea and was drowned. It is blowing hard from the north-east. Wellington, June 12. The Hawea was valued .it £13,000, and wan Insured for £5,00, £3000 m colonial rffices and £20C0 m Borne offices. The Takapnna will probably take up the running. The manager here has made arrangements to have the p«Bengers brought on by train. Later. The Union Company have received the following telegram this morning, from New Plymouth : — " The Hawea struck a rook coming m thh morniog, and 1b now foil of water. Passenger* have all landed. No chance 1b to be teen of getting the ship off." The Secretary of the Post Office has reoeWed a telegram from T»raa*lsi that the Hawea struck on a rock while entering the harbor this morning, by keeping too far to the north. She now lies on her beam end, full of water. The mails were landed all dry
