The Freetrade Conference since the opening have been debating a resolution that it is desirable there should be freetrade amongst the Australasian colonies, based upon a Customs Union, with a uniform tariff. The motion was carried, with a distinct understanding that any policy of* Freetrade or Protection ■' was unimpaired. Further resolutions were passed, affirming that it is desirable to attempt to establish immediately or m the future the principle of reciprocity by treaties m such articles as may .be agreed upon by the Government of the reciprocating colonies. The Conference agrees to support an Australian Federated Union, whose head quarters are situated m Melbourne;
