Sydney, June 7. Professor Black, of the Otago University, has accepted the Presidency of the chemistry and mineralogy section of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. A scheme of military defence is about to be submitted to Parliament which includes such a complete system of submarine defence that it is believed it will be absolutely impossible for hostile vessels to gain entrance to the harbor.
