' It has been definitely decided to open the Centennial Exhibition on the first of August. The an ti- Vivisection Society have, through the Agent- Qeneral, warned the Government against the introdijc? tion of M. Pasteur's disease into the colony, on the ground that it would be fatal to birds, and that wholesale slaughter o£ rabbits is inimical to the health of human beings. The Society state that they have taken the opinion of several medical gentlemen on the question, and they say there is reason to fear an outbreak of pestilence from putrifying rabbits killed by cholera.
