TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— Mr Collins exonso for rushing into print is regard to his actions at Mr Aldridge's lectures will be admitted on all handa to be a very fame ono, Asa matter of fapt there was only one paragraph m your iaaue devoted to recording anything with regard to Mr Aldridge's last lecture, and that was, that Mr W. H. Collins had proposed, and Mr D. H. Brown had seconded a hearty vote of tlianka to Mr Aldrldge, which was carried unanimously — and, I repeat it, was carried very unanimously — with great regret from all parts of the Hall that Mr Aldridge's viait could not be prolonged. No ! Mr Collins, you are In error when you say the report m the "Bible Standard " !b highly colored and fill? of ' Yankee gush," lam rather surprised at you for making dbo of euoh a term You know perfectly well that it ia a faithful reonrd ; and I may tell you that Mr Aldridgo ia not m the hablb of painting anything, or trying to make things appear what they are not, He speaka the troth from the Bible (as you apparently wera convinced at his meetIng), and he haa spoken, the truth In his report, and you know it ! Why do you try to gloss over yonr action? Take my advice and stick to any conviction of troth you may have, and don't be afraid of what man may Bay or do to yon. Remember " Tha fear of man bringeth a anare" For yonr Information I may tell you tbafc th&re wore moce Wealeyanß than you and Mr Brown, who wera quite oonvloc9d trut Mr Aldridge'a vlowa of the Truth were right, and were golug to propone tha vote, only you were evidently ao carried away with tho truth of Mr Aldridgo's remarks and explanations that you, m yonr impetuosity, stole a march on them; and they a»o very Horry for it after the s'yle In whloh you now write. In oono'ualon I would advise you to read the "Bible Standard," and, if I am not tuuch mia*aVc>-\ yon. will not atyle it " so-oalled," !••:•.' ii ! say m very truth it h vyhat It f ■ i a itself to be:-— Yours, etc.," i " ■ ' .
