The Court was then adjourned as a mark of reapeot to his memory, The probable aaooessor to the late Mr Jastlb'ft Johnston is already being discussed in' Wellington, but as Mr Justice Ward ; who was temporarily appointed during Mr Jußtlce Johnston's leave, holds office till February next, the Cabinet is not likely to fill the yaoanoy for several 'months. The Attorney?G,oneral would admittedly make an exoallont Judge, bat it is unlikely that he wqald accept offioe even if it were offered him. The others spoken of are Mr Justice Ward, Sir Robert Stoat, Bon T. fllelop, Mr Heßketh (Auckland), Mr Harper (Ohristohnroh), Mr Haggltfc (Danedin).
