The weather was all that could be desired, and 10,000 people were present, Including the Governor and party. The English team played a capital game, and had the best of the play throughout. The ( passing of the local team was very weak, i and tbe forwards -were slow m following • the ball. In the first spall Eagles, Seddon, ( Bumby and Stoddart secired tries, only i one of which was converted into a gaol i by Anderton. In the second spell Haslam , and Bnmby were successful m oroesing | their opponents' gaol line, and from one ' of the tries Paul kicked a gaol, id alee, ] of the local team, made a brilliant run f during the latter part of the spell, and, < passing tbe opponents' back, secured the < only try for New South Wales. Ihe hick i ac gaol was a failure. The scoring was j under the old rules, the Englishmen thus ( winning by 18 points to 2. <
