Adelaide, May 31. A number of armed blacks are threatening the Lutheran Mission at Kopgermannara, near Lake Hope, Cooper's Creek District, where they have murdered two native shepherds. A number of black trackers and troopers have been dispatched to the scene. Parliament was opened to-day. The Governor's speech referred to the improvements m the condition and pros- . spects of the colony, which were mainly t attributable to the bountiful harvest, r the increase m the wool clip, and encouraging results of mining. There • was every reason to expect the expenditure m the present financial year will j be well within the revenue. He hoped fc a policy of strict economy would render additional taxation unnecessary. Par- , liament would be asked to authorise a special loan for railway extension, and the Imperial Government was invited J to reconsider the question of establish- * ( ing Imperial coaling station and arsenal at Port Darwin m preference to Thursday island, Bills would tie introduced.
