Sydney, May 31 . Another scene occurred, in the House last night. Mr MctSlhone, member for Upper Hunter used language which the Chairman of Comj mittees ordered him to withdraw. Mr McElhone made a protest against with- | drawal but the Chairman insisted upon [ his making an absolute retraction. Mr McElhone refused and defied the Chair. He then left the Chamber. The Chairman reported the member to the Speaker who named him as guilty of contempt and on the motion of the Premier Mr McElhone was ;ordered to remain in custody during the pleasure of the House. Mr McElhone, upon being arrested by the Sergeant-at-Arms, apologised to the House and withdrew the remarks. He was then released from custody. The Raven returned from a cruise from the Islands where she has been making enquiries into the circumstances of the murder of Walker at Pentecost Island while labor recruiting in January last. It was ascertained that the murder was committed without any provocation whatever. The name of the murderer has been obtained, and the Diamond will endeavour to effect his capture. The bushrangers who stuck up an hotel at Walgett on Friday have been arrested. They are brothers named Cain, and were tracked over a hundred miles from the scene of the exploit by thepolice and black trackers. The death sentence passed on the aboriginal Derritt, has been commuted to imprisonment for life. Since the visit of Redmond Bros, in 1834, the Sydney branch of the National League has remitted assistance to the Home Rule agitation. A company has been registered with capital of a million, with power to increase to two million?, to purchase or lease the tramways. It is anticipated the Government will call for tenders for their purchaser lease in the next few days.
