QUESTIONS, Replying to questions, It was stated that Mines Department had received no Information of the discovery of gold between Havelook and Plcton j that the remuneration of the editor of the New Zealand Handbook had not yet been fixed, but it is hoped that both books aud remuneration would prove satisfactory ; that It waß the desire of Government to facilitate the acquisition of small areas of land m the neighborhood of the gumfields, and that steps would be taken with that objeot ; that " G.zjtte " notice would he published preventing the sale of the com* pound know as " rough on rats," except as a poison. native biils. Mr Pratt moved that all proposed Bills affeotlng the Native raoa should be translated into Maori and circulatedatleast one month before the opening of Parliament. The motion waa carried. The motion by Mr Fish for the production of the reports of the Commission of Enquiry glnto the oaae of Dr Nelll m connection with Seaoliff Lunatio Asylum was lost by 32 to 20.
