ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.
On Wednesday there were moderate entries of cattle and sheep; with a heavy entry of pigs, were yarded for the day's market ; weather very fine, attendance quite op to the average. Pat Cattle. — A moderate entry of varied quality, principally light weight cattle, with here and there a pen of good bullocks.. Demand very sluggish, late low values undergoing, perhaps, not the slightest improvement. Steers sold at from £5 2s Gd to £7 10s ; heifers and fat oows from £3 5s to £5 17a 6d, being at from 14s 6d to 17s 6d per lOOlbs, acoording to quality. Stobb Cattle. — A small entry; values unaltered. Dirav Cattle.-— A rather large entry. For superior sorts a better demand was shown. Values were aB under : — Very good young cows, near oalving, at from £6 15s to £8 12s 6d ; second rate sorts from £4 to £5. Fat Sheep. — A fairly numerous, though not a heavy entry ; quality varied, but mainly good, m oases very Buperior. The demand came from both local and West Coast buyers, freezers operating very sparingly ; a firm tone prevailed throughout the sale, and values showed an increase all round of about Is per * head. Crossbred wethers sold at from 10s 6d to 18s ; halfbred wethers, 8s 6d to 12s 6d ; orosßbred ewe 3, at from 7s to 9s 9d ; merino wethers from 4a lOd to 7s 3d, being at from ljd to 2d per lb, acoording to quality. Btobz Sheep.— Not a large entry ; values slightly firmer. The prinoipal sales are as follows: — Line of 496 crossbred ewes and wethers (mixed) at 6s ; 62 lambs at 3s 9d, 171 f oar-tooth wethers at 7s lid, 156 orossbred ewes at from 4s 2d to 5s 9d, and 230 merino ewes, boilers, at 2s Id, 119 crossbred wethers at 8s sd, 136 crossbred ewes at 6s Id, mixed orossbreds 5s to 7s Id. Pigs.— A large entry; all sorts on offer. Prioes, m face of suoh a large supply, gave way somewhat. The following are the prinoipal sales made :— 35 baconers at from 35s to 39s 6d ; 9 stores at 11s ; 38 baooners £2 12s 6d ; 10 porkers at 18s ; 8 at 51s Gd ; account Mr Jabez, 3 porkers at 325.
