TO THE EDITOR. £Ib, — By your report of the Borough Council I see that they have now got Into t meis about their engineering work. But who Ib to blame more than themselves, by appointing an Amateur to aaoh a pos'tion, 1 fall to see. I, like Councillor Williamtor, feel very strongly on this subject, having Buffered a good deal some years ago through careless engineering m the Borough ; bat I thought I was done with that now. Bat it seems not, for I rather got a surprise In coming from my office last night m the dark, when I nearly dislocated my shoulder by coming full against a new verandah post placed two feet within the footpath crossing at the corner of Cameron street and the Wakauul Road. Now I don't know to who's neglect this 1« due, -whether to the Engineer ot the Mayor, but I would advise them to have this obstruction removed aa soon as possible m oase more trouble may oome oat of it, I am, etc., Peter Walker, Afhburton, 16th May, 1888,
