Dosc3nding lato tho cavity he commenced to draw In the gravel from the sides, when to his horror he felt several knocks beneath his feet, and .also felt a slight upward motion. out of the grave he ran off to another part of the cemetery, where other men were employod, and, with pallid face and quivering voioo, begged them to return with him to the grave, ao he, believed someone waa alive m the coffin. The men accompanied him to tha spot, but ridiculed the man's story, declaring that he was the victim of his imagination. He persisted m his story, howover, and the men agreed to endeavour to detect any furthor Bounds from the ooffin. Their attention was not rewarded, however, and ultimately tho grave was filled up ; but the man stillpersists tbat ho was not mistaken, and that he heard the Bounds and felt the movement described,
