THE INVERCARGILL CATTLESTEALING CASE.
(pee press association.) Invercargill, May 2 The Court was crowded to day when the young woman, Sophia Kidd, was brought up on remand charged with Stealing 16 head of cattle. The case for the prosecution was that she took tho cattle from tho farm of Alexander Bobs at Forrcßt Hill on the night of the 9th April, and drove them to Mataur?, a distance of over 20 miles, and so.d them at an auction sale on the 10 th. For the defence a number of witneEses were called, who swore positively that she waa driving a reaper on her mother's farm at Forrest Hill on tbe 13th, and could not posßibly have been at Mataura. His Worship sa : d a strong prima facie ciao had been made out, and the accused was committed for trial, bail ia two sureties of £100 each. mmmmmmmmmmTmmmimmmmm.
