ASHTON.
Mr George Gelman occupied the ohalr, ■>nd ts Chairman of the Committee read the *nnn»l report, whloh showei the iohool to be m a very high state of efficiency, and complimented the teaohers on the condition of the school. A statement of accounts wag read, showing a credit balance, of £5 7a lid. Oa the motion of Mr Taylor the report was adopted. The meeting then proceeded to elect a Committee for the ensuing ye«r. The following gentlemen were nominated, viz :— George GUmour, Thomas Taylor, John Shearer, John Ashton, Walter Timras, William Wilson, David Ryan, W. J. Brown, James Orosaan. Tnla bolng tnore than the required number, Mr Mltohell was appointed Returning Offioer »nd a poll was taken. Tho first-named ■even gentlemen were duly elected. At a subsequent meeting of the newly-eleoted Oommittee Mr Taylor waa elected Ob&lrman.
