THE ASHBURTON COUNTY HUNT CLUB.

The opening meet of the season of the Asbburton County Hunt Clnh took place &t Sootsdean, Dromore, on Wednesday, 10th mat. Mr J. Worner, the huntsman, appointed for the onrrent year was pnnotually on the spot, with his little pack which looked fairly well, but appeared to.be rather on the fine side. Several short runs were enjoyed by the seleot few who pat man appearance. Puss could not be perenaded to leave the numerous plantations for some time, until at last a bare was seen making straight away and gave a nice run of some three miles m the direotion of Mr Jno. MoDowell's but.was loßt m a large field of turnips. On Monday last, the hounds met at Winchmore, where all visitors were as usaal most hospitably entertained by Me Matthew Stitt, the genial manager. At 1 p.m. the pack threw off opposite the house, but unfortunately pus 3 made for the river bed and was lost. Another part of the farm was beaten with better success, but it was only towards the end of tba afternoon that the bonnds managed to kill m a paddock of Mr Capon'B after a long Blow run. We regret to Bay that thiß fixture was also very poorly attended. Surely the local sports must be asleep. In past years one never expeoted to meet less than 50 equestrians at Winchmore on any similar occasion, but this time the followers numbered 20 at most.
