VICTORIA.
Melbourne, April 23. The winnings of the Hon. J. White during the present racing season amount to Dr Hearn, member of the Legislative Council and Dean of the Faculty of Lav at the Melbourne University, is dead. Mrs Rappefort, wife of Mr Rappefort, J.P., has been arrested on a charge of stealing jewellery, the property of the wife of the Hon Simon Fraser m January last. The accused suffers from nervousness, and is not responsible for her actions. The shock of being arrested has prostrated . her so much that her life is despaired of, and m consequence the charge has been withdrawn. Her arrest caused a great sensation.
