PARISHIONERS MEETING.
» A meeting of the Parishioners of St Mark's Oburoh, South llakala, was held m the pnblio room of the Library on Tharaday l evenlng. There was a very good attendance of members and the Rev H. Oollirfß presided. The meeting was opened with prayer. The Rev Chairman read a lengthy report on Ohuroh matters generally throughout the whole pariah which was very satisfactory. The attendances generally had considerably Increased. With regard to the attendance at Dorle, the Chairman regretted bolng unabla to give any figurea aa some person had mnlicioualy destroyed the attendance book. He concluded by tendering his eincoro thanks to the lay readerß, oholc and organlat. He stated than m future the Ohertaey dibtrfct would prefor oleoting a voatry of its own if it could bo managed The Clergyman's churchwarden, Mr Broadbent, read a ota*ement of accounts ihowitig die total receipts for this portion of the dlatriofc lobe £202 l(b GJ, conr-pr.-ee.d R3 follcwi : — S ;b.scnptlona, £36 10a ; offertories, £55 19 1 Id, and proceeds of g!f ■ auctions and tez-.ar, £110 In si. The Uov Collins then appointed Mr J, M. Broadbent oa olergyiUtu'd churchwarden, and m doing bo spoke m a feel* Ing manner of the services rendered by that gentleman during the pußt yo*r. Mr Uughea proposed Mr Joseph Oobcrne na parishioners churchwarden. Tho motion was seconded by Mr Stroot and carried unanimously. Mr Cjllina Bald he thought that Mr Oox, the purishlouorß churchwarden durdurlng the past year wa3 entitled to the thanks of tho congregation for his services. The following wora elected voutrymon, Meaura Bryant, Ciorringo, aud W. Street Mr Hardy movod a voto of thanks to tho past Church oflioera.and Miss Cox who had officiated ai organist — Carried. -jjThe'H. Ray Colliu3 moved a vote of thanks to tho lay reader, the choir, Sanday sohool teachers and those who had assisted at deoorating the Ohiu'cb, Messrs Hardy and Broadbent stated they would have boon most pleased to supply fliwera for tho dec ration. The latter gentlomon said ho had nothlßg to do with the decoration. Thia year he hud offdrod fljvvora whlcti had boon rofuacd. However, some tfma had evidently been spent on the work and whatever the effect was, the workers were entitled to some thauks for what they had done. A vota of thanks to tho chair brought the meeting to a close.
