SOUTH RAKALA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monbhy meeting of the above Board waa held on Thursday. Present — | Messrs Oosfer (chairman). Mulligan, Lyttelton, and Strlngfellow. BUSHY PaRK ROAD The Clerk reported that Mr Stringfellow and himself had decided to ahingle portions of the Bushy Park road — The maintenance contractors were doing well, and on the whole the roads were m good order. CALTFORNIAN THISTLE The Clerk repotted that the 0 illfornian thistles ou Lower Acton road had been grabbed op. There was a very large patch of them, and specimens were kept m the office for the inspection of farmers. RETIRING MEMBERS It was notified that Messrs Malllgao, Ooster, and Tucker retire by rotation, but are eligible, for re-election. It was decided that the annual meeting of ratepayers be held at the Board's office on Thursday, May 3rd ; that nominations for membership should be taken up to Tuesday, May Ist. and the election on Monday. 7th May. NEXT ORDINARY MEETING, It was decided to hold the next ordinary meeting at 10 am., instead of 3 p.m. BOUNDARY KOAD. A petition was received from a number of ratepayers, aaking that the Boundary Road between this and Wakannf, and now under the control of a this Board, be reformed, as it was m a' very bad state for about four and a-half miles.— On the motion of Mr Strlngfellow, seconded by Mr Lyttelton, it was decided to call for tenders for the work, also to make three open crossings m plaoe of the three oulverts, the Wakanal Board to be advised of this. OHBBTSEY ROAD. The County Council wrote with regard to taking over the Ohertsey Boundary Road, stating that the maintenance charges must be equally divided In the future, VILLAGE SETTLEMENT. The Commissioner of Crown Linds wrote, asking for some further information with regard to works carried out m the Village Settlement. — The Clerk waa inatruoted to supply the information. LETTER FiW'M THK TRBABURY. The Treasury Department wrote aaking for information on 1-ans, etc — The Clerk stated that he had replied. A DIBPUTFD LIABILITY. The Finance Company wroto, stating that they were not interested m the land lately occupied by Mr E. S. Lowe, and would not pay the rates demanded — The Oierk waa instructed to make enquiries and report to next meeting. CORSE ON R.O ADS. The Clerk was instructed to give notice to all occupiers of lands on the Wakannl Road to dear the road of gorsa. A QUESTION FOR CONSIDERATION. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote re accrued money on the sale of settlement seotione, £28 8i sd, and asking how the money would be expended. — Consideration deferred till next meeting. applicutions. Mr G. Murray received permission to oreot a verandah over the footpath on his preml-03, on the usual conditions. Mr Edglngton wrote aeklug if he oould have the movable hut for too days — Granted. IMPOUNDING CASES The executor of the 1-Uo W. Hartnell wroto asking if certain ch^rgos made by the po-andkeeper for 350 ehoep Impounded wore correct — A heavy charge was made for 1< ed a? well as driving foes ; had the notlcb been delivered icetead of being posted the sheep would havo been released at once, aB they wire impounded at 4 p.m' ono day and released *t 10 a.m. the next day — The charge was £3 6a lOd. Mr Mclaram wrota complaining about the poundkoeper impounding his horse and dray from near his own house. The wheel was chained and it was customary to leave horses In, thia manner on the Rakala. He had not allowed the horse to go to the pound but had had to pay the poundkooper the Bum of two shillings before he oould gain possession of the horßef — The olerk reported that there was no entry m the ponndbook showing any such horso impounded , The Chairman was requested to make enquiry with regard to Mr Mclnnvm's complaint, and report to tho next meeting, and also to see Mr Chamberlain for Eomo further, information with regard to hia letter. THE FlttE AT THE OKMETERY. Mestra Smith and Son wrote stating they bad been at considerable trouble m extinguishing a fire at the cemetery and asking for some remuneration. The caretaker reported a ce and the matter was left over till next meeting, LAND TAIJEN. Correspondence was received from Messrs Holmes and Laiighrey f$ laqd taken from Mr Audgrsop. This reggivod immediate attention, ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £63 0s 91 were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
