Th 9 Cvorseer's report wag read and conaidend. — It was resolved that D. Forbes ;orfeit his deposit on his sawmill oontraot, and the Overaaer was instructed to re-let tbe work to the next lowest tenderer. Ihe Overseer was also instructed to get tbe stones brokon at the railway gate, Mount Somera ; also to get the atone ricked off the cutting near tha Alfocd Barest Hotel — It was resolved to c*ll tendjrs for the supply of 400 yards of shingle lo be delivered on the Alford Forest r»ad, near the iron house.
Correspondence was read as follows :— From tha Aohbarton County Council, in* formlngthe Board that the Counoil was of opinion that the fencing at Booth's cutting was a Road Board work. — The Clerk «as ioetrnoted tJ reply that tho Board h of opinion thai; the work is clearly a Council work, and should any accident take plaoe the Council would be liable, therefore the Board hopes the O >nncil will reconsider their decision.
From the same, asking if the Board would recommend their Overseer to sell dog collnrs.— Resolved to make the recommendation.
From Mr Simpson, manager Baccleach Estate, asking permission, to ereot gate on road lesding from the pound to the fotgsJb— Resolved that the Board cannot grant the request.
From Mr J Hood, asking on behalf of the Presbyterian Charoh Committee, to rent tbe Koad Board oottage — Resolved to let the bouse for !)j per week if taken for six months.
From the same, reminding the Board that the matter of flood water damaging tho RHcenoarsa Reserve ia still unattended to. — The Clerk was instructed to report on the matter at the next meeting of the Bonrd.
F-om the Mount HuU Road Board, stating that the river f«rds, according to faction 9 of the "PubHo Works Act, 1884," should be nnder the control of the County O( uncll, and that m future that Board could not rFcognlse any liabilities for rppairsi. — The Clerk wss insiracted to inform the Mount HuU l*oad Board that ihe present oontraot expires on tha 9h of October, and the Mount Soxners Koad B Jard hopes it wM bo allowed to run until its expiry, and at that date this Board will be happy to refer the matter sb asked to tbe Aslbur f nn County Council. From Mr B. Hughti, Asking why the Board refn^es to pay for circulars obtained In 1883 — The Cierk was instructed trep>y t&at the Board »-ecogui6e no liability because m April, 1883, when the account was incurred, Mr tJell was not m the employ of the Board.
Resdved tha*; all rates outstanding after the 24th Muroh, be sued for without farther notice.
