A LETTER FROM THE QUEEN
London, March 7
A letter from Her Majesty the Queen to the sister of the late General Gordon, who fell at Khartoum, has been published. Her Majesty sympathises with the bereaved relatives and deplores the loss of Gordon to the nation. She further expresses the opinion that Gordon's cruel fate leaves a stain on
the British arms.
