WAKANUI ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of thia Board was held on Saturday last. Present, — Mensrß M, Bruoo (Chairman), Jas, Brown and Gso. Ooe. CORRESPONDBNOE. From Tt. Meaolem re traction engines. Reoeived. — From County Council stating thatthe Boards In the Oonnty are requested not to remove culverts over water racab without the consent of the Council. — Received — From the same re direct road to Dromore, asking to be aupplied with a tracing of proposed road, Tbe Surveyor stated thia had been complied with — «- From the Publlo Works Jepartment re now road through W. Jamison's, and stating that Mr Ollivler had been appointed to hold an enquiry into the oiroamatancea of the case — Fom tbe Colonial Secretary enclosing copy of letter received from Mr Meredith Wilson asking him that the matter of opening up of » new road be pushed on. The Colonial Secretary now asked the Board to state under what statutory provision he oan take action m tbe direotlon deijred by Mr WHoon. 'Vhe Surveyor m&% (!|lreQted to state that the road m question ia the one m which an enquiry 1b" to bo held,— - From Mr Meredith Wilson on the same subject. Mr Wilson to be informed of the proceedings to be taken. — From James Wilion applyiog for gravel In gully. As the reserve waa not vested m the Board they could not grant request. INNJS' B.OAD Mr P. Jnnla watted on the Board and stated the inconvenience he had Buffered through the damming up of the water at tbe Wakanoi mill flooding this road last winter, and he trusted the Board would see that the same was not done thia winter — Mr Innis waa Informed that the Board would see Into the matter at once. sdkvbyob'b rbpobi. Tbe Surveyor's report waa read aa follow — (I) Wilson'a Road The bridge on this road becoming unsafe for traffic we had It taken up and ford made m lieu thereof. Tenders were called for filling m holes on thia road, but the only one reoeived waa considered too high and not accepted, since then we have procured another | tender. (2) Mill Road.— The tuaaooka < have been oleared off thia road between Oophraue's and Stanley roads. (3) Wakanui Townahip Road'— The footbridge on thia road over the oreek has been widened and made suitable for sheep traffic. (4) Oochrane'a Road.— A ford has been made m lieu of unsafe culvert opposite W. Ooohrane'a. (5) Jamison's Road.— We have been notified by the Commissioner to enquire into the taking of thia road under the Public Works Aot, that he will hold the enquiry on the 15th lost. (6) The maintenance man's diary lies on the table. The Surveyors were instructed to inspect this road and call tenders for metal* ling the portion necessary, a sum not .speeding £15 to be expended.
