A great eight hours demonstration took place to-day, and a Congress of Delegates from all the colonies will open to-morrow.
The Tradss Union intend to consider the Chinese question. They complain that the regulations recently framed by the Government of South Australia are quite inadequate to meet tfoe evil, and urge that nothing short of prohibition will obviate the difficulty. They contend, further, that it Will' be necessary to place certain restrictions on the Chinese already m Australia. A deputation from the Union has interviewed thePremier, Sir Samuel Griffiths, who characterised the conduct of the South Australian Government as dilatory m the matter. He was afraid the country would be swamped with Cjiirjese while they dallied with the question, ■
