NEW ZEALAND BUTTER IN SCOTLAND.
The " Glasgow Dally Mail," of December 16th, says :— *• Quite a novelty has been Introduced Into oar provision market this week, when several parcels of Nt-w Zealand batter were offered. The quality te good, bat the price to make this ar'iole take Is thought to be above its relative value— Is per lb. A few cheeses from the same country, and which have been pronounced on favotably by those In the trade who have tried them, have also been introduced j and tbe opinion is very favorable as to the prospects of a continuance of tbe offering of this artiole." I This testimony to the value of our butter I and cheese is valuable. In tbe 8 use paper we observe that at Glasgow " Cork Firsts " butter was fetching on tbe same date 126s - ' ' "' The v *N.B Agriculturist" of December 21 says ;— Last week Mr James A. Moir grocer, Perth, received a sample of four kegs of butter from New $ .aland, whioh is the first that has been directly Imported to Perth. It appears that ln Net* Zealand the/c Is a regular glut of butter m tho spring and summer ra r athi« — *• " " pond »•»** **— -« **«ioh oorres* .._ irurantumn and winter months, and tbe merchants there are trying to fiod the beat markets for it. The butter has been sent so that it may stand on its merits, and it must ba asid that it is of very superior qhal.ty _nd rlobneis, and has In no way suffered from tho tropto»l voyage. The butter was speedily sold at the average price, and from the success of the first experiment, there Is every pr,. speot of a larce trade being developed.
