It is stated that the police wrongly arrested Mr Patrick O'Brien for taking part m the meeting at Gilhooly. Mr O'Brien remained m the House of Commons all Friday night, and on leivjng the Chamber at midnight he was surrounded by a body guard of sixty members, who hustled the police m their attempts to arrest him. A great squabble ensued at the Palace gates, where the police were reinforced. Eventually Mr O'Brien wis taken into custody, and bail was refused. He will be taken m custody to Dublin for trial.
A Royal Commission advises the Imperial Government to spend -£400,000 m developing Irish fisheries, and also to extend the railways throughout the country under a guarantee. Dublin, February 11. The proceedings taken to quash the verdict of murder returned against several of the police who took part m the Mitchellstown affray have been successful and the verdict reversed.
