Serious buah tires have been racing m the Wairarapa district. At Waingiwa Ridgway's honse and Green's hat were burnt. A prospecting party of four Maeterton settlers were caught by fire m the gorges of the river, and had a narrow ©dcape. They lest their outfit and tools. Numerous haystacks and miles of fencing have gone. At toathereton extensive bush fires h*ve been burning on the ranges since Sunday last. Home of th»> settlers let their homes, as they were «■ ndangered. Many of the farmers suffer bj the loss of winter feed.
