TERRIBLE ADNENTURES OF A SOMNAMBULIST.
An engineer on the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad noticed, one night recently as his engine was travelling at a rapid rate near An&lomink, something white on his cow-ontoher. He climbed ont and walked along th» guardrail to the smokettok. Peering oui and lc king down on <be p<lnt, he was horrified to see the blanohed face of a young woman turned upwards, with terror m her eyes, white she gasped the bars < f the oowoatohet ♦o bold herself on her perilous per oh. She was m her niuht-oiothes. The engt'n hastened b»ck and reversed bis engine. When it had come to a standstill, he hurried out and with difficulty loosened the woman's grasp on the ban. It «»s some time before she resovered sufficiently io give any aooount of herself. t*he then said that her name was Susan Oooley, the daughter of a well-known resident of Inalomink. She is a somnambulist, and she must hare got np In h«r flleep, walked down to the railroad and olimbad npon the oow-catoher unobserved while the train was standing at the station. The first she knew was when she was awakened by the whistling of the engine. J t was then some time before she realised where she was, and when the knowledge of her situation cimo to her she became paralysed with fright and seized the pilot-bars mechanically.
