A telegram i<uu* '0 a Wellington p*per dated 3rd lose. 8»y« : — It is sipposed that the real old saurian monstHr has again made his appearance m >he Waikato river, and those who assured as that the animal had been killed at Raglan must acknowledge their error The faots of the discovery are as follows,: — VVbilat two men w^re crossing the Waikato m a canoe a short distance above Arapuni on Monday night, a monstrous animal made its appearance above the water alongside the canoe, Dearly capa zing it and terrifying the men, who lost control of the canoe which was swfept; near the rapids m Arapuni Gorge. Toe men made a desperate effjrfc to reach tbe bank and when olose to the shore the m 'nater again made bis appearance, Tbe men describe tbe animal «s of immense size with large jaws showing a formidable arr*y of jigged teeth, its body was covered with l(.ng. shaggy, blaok huir, resembling that of a dog.
