("Australasian and South American") Recently the Nicaragua Canal Company { requested the German Minlete* at \ Washington, Baron von Alvansleben, to I aak tbe German Government to designate some eaglaeor, to inspect tbe survey for the canal Information h»B been received that the German Government has complied with tbe request and has granted leave of absence to the Uydr*uHo Engineer Inspector, Paul Rohns, to enable him to visit the scene of operations In Nicaragua and inspect the works of tbe surveying patty as well as to give them the benefit of his approval of certain : proposed alterations m the' line of the . oana'. [ As soon as the engineers have fairly commenced operations an eminent Eog--1 lish engineer will also be invited to join the party m Nicaragua and oritlolse the work as it progresses. The Nioaragaan Republic sant a commission to Greytown who received the Nioaragnan Canal Survey Expedition on ♦helt arrival, and offared them every fiioillty for their work In the name of the government.
