The "Otago Daily Times' reports that a fr I ,c number of persons visited Mr J&mei M 'Donald's cement works ia Yogel street to witness a test of the cement that he ii manahotartag and as a sample of what he ii about to supply to the Oamaru j Harbor Board. Fer the purpose of the test a number of email blooks of cement lsin x l£!n bad been manufactured end Immersed m water for a period of six days. The three blooks first tested stood a strain of 14501 b, 14751 b, acd 1425 b respectively, and the fourth one remained unbroken at 15751b -the greatest tes^ that conld be applied by the machine. Another block stood a teet of 1427' b. The trial gave an average test of 14701 b. The trial was regarded by all the experts present ai a ■' remarkably tacoessfa! one. The Government test for oemeat, It may be mentioned, is 7501 b.
