THE GOVERNMENT POLICY.
Mr Goschen, Chancellor of the Exchequer, speaking at Hastings, stated that the Government did not intend to tax corn. He denied there was any discord m the Cabinet, and believed there never was a more united Ministry. Tbe assertion that Lord Hartington had sought to modify the Local Government measure was a pure invention.
Londoh January 25. Mr Henry Matthews, Home Secretary, speaking at Birmingham, said that during the coming session measures dealing with local government, railway rates, employers' liabilities, limited liability companies, and technical education would be introduced.
